Organisation

The conference organization had three levels – national, Nordic and local. All levels complimented each other and enabled to create multi-level synergy.

National steering group

Finnish national steering group started its work in February 2009. It was responsible for the conference preparations and implementation of it.

The steering group was composed of following actors:

Nordic planning group

The Nordic planning group acted as a communication platform and influenced the conference programme.

Composition:
One representative from each of the Nordic Associations of Local and Regional Authorities, and from the ministry responsible for sustainable development.

Local planning group in Turku

A preparatory planning group was established in the city of Turku. It aimed to bring synergy with the conference and different side events.
