In the oldest acting theatre in Turku, the Swedish Theatre of Turku, environmental and non-commercial short-films from all around the world will be presented. The short films are chosen together with Green Vision film festival, organized annually by the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of the city of St. Petersburg. The history of ‘Green Vision” dates back to 1996 when it was organized for the first time.

The films give you a great opportunity to enjoy the insights and learnings offered by the short films. The event showcases 16 short films, the length of which varies from 5 to 15 min. The short movies come for example from Germany, France, Russia and Finland. The films cover the following topics: sustainable transport, water and biodiversity, climate change and energy and ecological education.
In connection to the film show, there is an exhibition covering topics such as sustainable transport, water management, climate change, eco-energy and ecological education.

Ecological education
Builders (Rakentajat), 2008, without words, 15 min
A restoration camp was held at Murtovaara farm in Valtimo, Eastern Finland. The farm, situated in the middle of the vast forest, now functions as a museum and monument of local farm architecture. The roof of the main building was renewed using birch bark and wood taken directly from the forest. Teachers and students of architecture from Finland and Japan joined together under the supervision of teachers and local craftsmen to learn old building techniques and pay tribute to the tradition of wood construction.
My neighbor and Me (Ma vosine et moi), 2006, without words, 8 min
A cicada and an ant live in the same building. Whereas the ant is very attentive not to waste water, heating and electricity, the cicada isn’t concerned with its power consump-tion. One morning the cicada has no water anymore, no electricity, but a lot of invoices in her letterbox.
Vegetable patch (Aufruhr im Gemusebeet), 2001, German, 13 min
Based on one of Sweden's most successful children's book series, Pettson and Findus tells captivating stories of Pettson the farmer, and his loyal cat Findus. Pettson lives deep in the countryside and has little contact with other human beings, and so he is considered a little awkward and uncouth. His temperamental cat Findus thinks Pettson is just plain good fun and is happy to accompany Pettson on all of his errands and on the odd adventure, too. One of their adventures happened at Vegetable Patch.

Don’t push your luck, 2003, French with English subtitles, 8 min
The morning epopee of a whole family, on the way for the school and work, turns to the nightmare. Like each morning, the traffic returns the progression of its painful car. As for other drivers, they start to lose patience in this interminable congestion: they hoot and are annoyed, to no purpose. Put aside pedestrians, skateboarders, cyclists… and a hedgehog which scurries peacefully, nothing else really goes on.
Climate change and energy
Sails give an electricity (Паруса дают электричество), 2006, Russian, 12 min
The film is telling about alternative energy sources problem and presenting unique ecologically safe wind energy plant, which is very efficient.
The hydronauts: out in the cold, 2003, Russian with English subtitles, 13 min
Neptuna and the Hydronauts are on their way to the Antarctica, where they met Paul, a penguin with his brood who is lost on an iceberg in the middle of the ice cold ocean. The Hydronauts help Paul to hatch the egg with the sun energy and finally to return to his colony.

This animation shows some of the main reasons of the Global warming and some of the after-effects for the Planet. It sounds like a warning for the Civiliza¬tion. The happy end is in hands of the young generations.

The history of Belovezhskaya puscha – oldest forest of Europe counts for centuries. Today you can find here more than 300 wisents – biggest animals of our continent. The wisents’ history is very interesting, last European wisent was killed in 1919. In 1927 last wisent of Caucasus died. Wisent disappeared! Many years’ people spend to regenerate this specie, working all over the world. In our days wisent is a wonderful example of human’s help to nature.
The lightship Kuli (Tulelaeva Kulid), 2001, English, 10 min
Anything can happen at sea. You are eating your daily sandwich on the deck of the ship when suddenly some shark with its dorsal fin swollen from greed, or gigantic sly sea-gull, or a spicy storm that has just capsized a spice ship, attacks you. But nevertheless, as opposed to other ships, one ship must always be at sea, even if it is raining stone herrings from the sky!

Every year in the beginning of May life is freezing in ancient Kologriv situated in Kos-troma region. Cars are moving in silent, people are looking into the sky. Because in this time wild geese arrive to Kologriv from Holland. Nobody knows why they have chosen Kologriv meadows for a stop. But for Kologriv goose became a bird of happiness.
